Abstract:
On the basis of an interesting book written by Lee Smolin on the string theory, we will make some remarks on scientific rationality, as it emerged from the history of modern physics. So, we will put to the test the Thomas Kuhn’s methodological criterion, who recognizes the scientific development in alternating of paradigms and revolutions, not yet applying it to the past’s science but to the actual one. Our aim is also to show the importance of the foundational and philosophical questions which lie at the heart of science, as Franco Selleri pointed out in several of his works.
