Abstract:

Art unfolds a special relational environment. This relational environment stems from the hermeneutical openness, which in turn results from a unique encounter between the artist, his artwork and the audience. My aim is to reflect upon Rodin’s work and to determine the extent to which his sculptures disclose an unknown relational territory. To do so, I draw upon Anders’s interpretation of Rodin and use philosopher’s thesis as conceptual tools, through which a new reading of French artist’ sculptures might be determined. As a result, Rodin’s works structure and is intimately structured by relations. Rodin’ sculptures, I argue, enrich social communication, through which the weakness of contemporary human relations might be narrowed.
